Web app not honoring web map settings

I have built a web app for parcel viewing in our community. Everything is working good save the search by parcel owner name. I have made that a searchable layer in the web map but it is not honoring that setting in the web app. It also will not change the text in the search bar. I deleted all text and it still shows the default.

  How did you set the parcels layer to searched by owners name exactly? In the Search widget?

In thee settings of the web map used for the web application.

???? I am not understanding. Normally you configure a layer that is to be searched in the Search widget setting page in WAB, not the web map.

I was trying to keep the same template of the web app as it was but I could not search using the default search bar. I could add another search widget and make it work, just wanted to keep the same look and feel. Anyway, another member of our team said she reset the rest services and all is well. Just some kind of glitch.
