We have a web application for city utilities that is loading slowly and hanging for about 4 seconds on the webglDeps script causing the application to take over 10 seconds to load. Our application has 39 AGOL hosted feature layers, some with many features some with just a few. These layers are unchecked by default when the app loads and almost all layers are outside the visibility range on load.
My guess is that it’s our number of layers that is holding up loading. The solution to fewer layers would require rearranging our whole datasets each time we want to publish an update which is not a great solution for us.
Is my assumption about the layer numbers correct, is there something else going on, or some other solution?
