How can I either export or save the current state of a Web App without the original WebApp making changes to the archived one.

I have a Web App that gets changed quarterly for exercises. I am trying to keep a log of information from the exercises and one way I want to do this is by saving the Web App from that certain exercise and then being able to make changes to the original Web App for the exercises that come after that.

I figured saving the Web Apps as different versions would work but that would start to take up a lot of space. Furthermore, I make some changes to the base Web Map used for the Web Apps which would affect all Web Apps, not just the current one that I am utilizing. And, creating a new base Web Map and Web App for each exercise would end up using a lot of space as well.

Is there any other way that I can either download or export the Web App in its current state so that I can reference it for later uses? Or if push-comes-to-shove, can I save the different versions of the Web Apps but keep the base Web Map static for old Web Apps so that I don't have to create a new base Web Map every time?
