Edit Widget issue on iPads: Fields recognized as text

I am currently working with the edit widget on an app deployed to iPads. The work flow involves selecting a number of options from drop down menus. The issue I am having is the iPads are recognizing the drop down menus as text input areas. This causes the keyboard to automatically come out, which is very disruptive to the work flow when editing numerous fields per point. Does anyone have suggestions for addressing this issue? So far I have not made much progress with inspecting elements and editing them. I took a screenshot which I hope helps a bit.

Ideally, in the example above, every field with a drop down option would not allow text as an input.
