Chart Widget - default to use spatial filter

I would like the Chart widget to default to use the spatial filter to limit features (see screenshot). How can I edit the widget.js to have this option be checked automatically, or to bypass it entirely and have the user choose between "Only features intersecting the current map area" or "Only features intersecting a user-defined area"?
