Hello,

I'm new to ArcGIS Viewer for Flex so please bear with me.

I'd like to keep everything on my local for now while I play around with this tool.  I've kept everything to default, and it automatically changed my machine name to its IP address.  I'm unable to get it past this.  It tells me to "Please check your Web Server Base Folder URL!"  Attached is a screenshot.  Does anybody have any advice?

Thanks in advanced!

Malcolm,

So now that you have IIS installed and have restarted your computer are  your issues still there?

Thank you, Robert.  I posted this yesterday about my issue:
"I was able to get it past the Settings page by copying the exact same path in Web Server Base Folder to Web Server Base Folder URL. I'm sure this can't be right?

I've tried putting in every possible path under the Web Server Base Folder URL and was only able to get it to get past the error after doing what I did above. Any thoughts? "

I got past the error, although after playing around with it, I've discovered that it's not a solution, so back to square one.  The error is essentially unresolved.

Malcolm,

What do you get when you type http://localhost in the address bar of your browser and click enter?

I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."

Malcolm,

Then you still have an issue with the setup of IIS and you need to get with your IT Dept to get that figured out first.

I realize this is an old thread, but I am in this same situation and figure this is better than opening a new one.  I am extremely new to server/programming, and am looking to just get this going locally to play with and learn.  I have Windows 7, and had to download IIS Express (as I was in that special case where full IIS can't be installed).  I installed the Flex Viewer into the correct folder (wwwroot), but still get this error.

What is really frustrating, is it has worked twice before when I have gone through clicking a bunch of different files in the IIS Express folder/Webmatrix.  But since I don't know what is causing it to work/if that is still possible, I'm looking for any advice I can get on what I should be doing to make my Web Server Base Folder URL work.

Carlos,

The use of App Builder assumes that your system meets the System requirements.

Have you read this and do you have IIS or Apache installed on your PC?

Best answer I have seen in 3 hours. I have windows 7 installed on my computer and the instructions to turn on the IIS is found here
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725762.aspx I was getting the error because I didn't meet system requirements. Best of luck!

Hi, I have the same issue, but installed apache. When testing http://localhost firefox returns: "It works!", trying http://localhost/flexviewers --> not found.

I am totaly new to flex and servers. Do I have to create a kind of folder in apache, if yes how do I do this?

Any help or recommendation is welcome!

edit: installed also IIS, in menu of IIS there is the connection localhost\Sites\Default Web Site\flexviewers but in a browser I have no possibity to open it?

Thanks a lot

Johannes
