Hey All-

I have been migrating my viewer to the new 3.0 version and have ran into a problem that I wonder if anyone else has. I can successfully use the new print widget without any problems with all my services. I also use the eSearch widget without any problems, but when I make a selection using eSearch and than try to print the map with that selection, the viewer (and browser) locks up. The only way to unlock it is to end the process in task manager. Has anyone else run into this, or maybe someone could shed some light on why this is happening. Thanks in advance.

All,

The new version 3.0.1 is now available.

Version 3.0.1 - 7/26/2012

* The name of the swf and xml file has changed to eSearchWidget.swf and eSearchWidget.xml
* Fixed application hang bug when using the eSearch and new 3.0 print widget.
* Added autozoom configuration to zoom to the selected features automatically whena search is complete.
* Added keepgraphicalsearchenabled configuration option to keep the graphical selection tool that the
user chooses active even after a selection has been made. This means that you will not have to clear
your selection and re-choose a graphical selection tool in order to make another selection.
* Added autohide to the fixed datagrid. Control of this is now in the SearchWidgetFixedDG.xml file.
* Added predefined datagrid column sorting to all the datagrids.

Does anyone want to chime in on this one? Or try it on their end to see if the same thing happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Just did a text query using eSearch widget with FV 3.0 final.

selected some features, then used print widget to print to hard copy.

No errors, no lockup.

Hey Rhett,

Thanks for trying this out for me. Just a couple of questions on your configuration. Are you using AGS 10.1? Also, are you using the default picture maker symbol in the eSearch xml ("assets/images/i_search.png") or a customized one?

Thanks again,

Matt

Nope, using AGS 10.0 sp1.

Using only defaults for icons.

Hey Rhett,

Thanks for the info. I to am on AGS 10.0 (SP4) and have tried it with default symbols with no luck. Works every time until I make a query using the eSearch widget, then it hangs up. I will be trying a fresh eSearch widget, start from scratch and see if I get better results. Thanks again.

Matt,

Sorry for not responding earlier. I initially thought you where using AGS 10.1. I have not seen this issue but will be interested to see what you find when you start with a new/fresh eSearch widget. I am unaware of anything that would be cause this.

Hello All,
I have experienced this problem with ArcGIS 10.1.

Flash crashes on me every time I use eSearch to find a feature first (and leave the graphic visible) and then use the new geoprocessing PrintWidget.  The phenomenon happens only when I leave the eSearch graphic up (both polygon and point). If I clear the eSearch results and the pushpin graphic and then use the print widget, all is fine.

Just chiming in here, I get the same issue as well when using the eSearch and then trying to Print.
Also get a more detailed error when using the stock Search tool and then the Print widget.

When using the stock Search widget I get the following error in my 3.0 viewer. not trying to hijack this post, but just thought it interesting that both Search tools affect the Print tool in 3.0

**It's for a cemetery viewer...

Error executing print task:

[RPC Fault faultString="Unable to complete operation." faultCode="400" faultDetail="Error executing tool.: Layer "Locate Burial Site2": Missing or invalid 'height' in marker symbol.
Layer "Locate Burial Site2": Missing or invalid 'height' in marker symbol.
Layer "Locate Burial Site2": Missing or invalid 'height' in marker symbol.
Failed to execute (Export Web Map).
Failed to execute (Export Web Map Task)."]

I concur that the Print error only happens when either the eSearch or Search widgets are left open with selected features drawn.  Once you clear selected features, or turn off the tool with features still selected, the Print for 3.0 works.

Steve,

This is good news for me at least as it seems that it is more of a general API or Viewer issue than something specific to the eSearch.
