Is it possible to configure the Edit Widget so that individual layers have different editing abilities?

For example, I want to be able to use <deletefeatures> on my line features, but not for my poly features. I have been playing around with <layersettings> but I only get an #1085 error when I set the <deletefeatures>false</deletefeatures> under the <layersettings>

Unfortunately not the only way you could achieve this is with more than one edit widget with different config files
