I am interesting in learning more about the Flex Viewer and the Flex API.  I realize that this learning curve can be a bit intimidating to a novice, but was wondering if there would be any advice on a knowledge path to take.  I understand the flex viewer to a certian degree, and the use of the pre-complied widgets.  I would be very interested in learning about creating my own widgets for use in the Flex Viewer.  Has anybody found any relevant courses (perferable online) that would help in this quest to learn more about the Flex Viewer.

On a side note, where is Flex going in light of the advancement of HTML5?.

Thanks for any responses

Adobe Flex in a Week is a really good free asset.

Re: HTML5, many docs. have been published by both Esri and Adobe on the topic.

james,

I would be very interested in learning about creating my own widgets for use in the Flex Viewer.

ArcGIS Viewer for Flex Developer Guide - "Getting started for developers", "Creating widgets", "Application architecture" ...
ArcGIS API for Flex concepts with samples
When you done with ESRI help + learned Adobe Flex in a Week come back with new questions. 😄
