I recently updated a layer on our website. I have done this quite frequently, like once a week. I recently updated to 10.2 and when I updated the layer this week, the e search widget returns this error "[RPC Fault faultString=""error #2032" faultCode="null" faultDetail="null"]". Could this have something to do with me not updating our server to 10.2 as well yet or is it something else? Thanks in advance.

So what did you update to 10.2?...

It is always counter to esris advice to have ArcGIS Products out of version sync.

One of the first things I would check is if your layer ids have shifted with your last update (i.e. layer X was id 3 and is now id 4).
