Survey123 Web App Updating Coordinates Error

Hi All,

I am trying to update the coordinates of a record captured in the field in Survey123. I am using the web app for this.

The error code relates to the pictures failing to upload, but they are already uploaded and attached to the survey record from when it was generated in the field.

The device used here is a laptop, not the tablet that the photos and record were captured on, but the images were uploaded and not stored in the tablet.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks!

Hi @Ariggs,

Thank you for posting about this issue with the attached screenshot!

I can see that you are receiving Error 400: Unable to upload item when editing a record on the data tab of the Survey123 website. There is an existing bug that has been documented regarding this issue, assuming the following are true about your survey:

  1. The survey contains a repeat where multiple images can be submitted
  2. The specific record you are attempting to edit has multiple images attached to it
  3. The photos were submitted from an iOS device(s)
  4. You are attempting to edit from the editing pane on the Data tab

If all of these are true about your survey, then please take a look at the following bug: BUG-000175802. The bug description is as follows: Unable to Edit Records in Survey 123 Data Editing Pane After Submitting Forms in Repeat Mode with Multiple Photos on iOS Devices with Error Message 400: Unable to upload an item.

The bug currently has a status of In Review, meaning that its relevancy and validity is being determined prior to being placed in a product plan. Until this bug has been resolved, you can workaround the error you are receiving by editing directly in the table on the Data tab, rather than using the editing pane.

Please feel free to reply to this comment if you have any further questions about the bug or workaround, or if any of the numbered points above do not apply to your workflow. If feasible, I would also recommend reaching out to Esri Technical Support or your local Esri distributor's support as they can attach this bug to your case and allow you to track its future progress, as well as bring further attention to the bug.

Warmly,

Hi Charles,

Points 1-4 are correct, with the caveat that what I am trying to edit is the latitude and longitude of the point/record, so there are no fields in the table to edit directly. Is there any other method of workaround for that in particular?

Thank you!
