Survey123 & Operations Dashboard are crashing on start up in a windows 2012 R2 VM.

The only other discussion I could find was this problem, but the resolution did not solve our issue.

  Problem Event Name:                     APPCRASH

  Application Name:                           Survey123ConnectforArcGIS.exe

  Application Version:                         1.10.43.0

  Application Timestamp:                  584e48c4

  Fault Module Name:                        AppStudio-WindowsLocation.dll

  Fault Module Version:                     0.0.0.0

  Fault Module Timestamp:              5824ee82

  Exception Code:                               c0000005

A colleague span up a similar VM and had Survey123 crash with OpsDashboard working.

My next thoughts are to test if it is a VC redistributable problem.

Hi Angus,

Thanks for replying.  It looks like it may be an issue with AppStudio, which is used to build Survey123.  NManocha-esristaffanshuman_mathur‌ - can you take a look at this?

Cheers.

I am assuming it is due to 2012 R2, however there is inconsistency with the crash across several VM's at R2.

I am also having this issue on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine with the latest 2.4 release.

Can you try deleting AppStudio-WindowsLocation.dll and AppStudio-WindowsLocation7.dll files from \Users\Username\Applications\ArcGIS\Survey123ConnectforArcGIS\position and then launch Connect again?

Thanks

Shobana

We ended up changing the OS to workaround this problem.

The behavior was logged with Esri technical support and they replicated the issue.

As we no longer had the environment nor a requirement to stay within 2012 R2, the ticket was closed and testing continued internally at Esri.

If you wish to pursue this further, the case # was 01911169.

Cheers,

Angus
