Search Appearance feature not pulling in data from another feature layer

I am trying to pull in records from one feature layer to another with the user being able to select from a list of events created in the original survey.

Survey 1 - Want to pull in answers from event/Event Name

Survey 2 using search feature

Would like this to be a drop-down with Event Name list

I think you need to add the number of the layer after the FeatureServer part of your URL so it knows which layer you want.  For example FeatureServer/0
