Hi, I want to conduct map-based surveys and ask participants to draw a route from one location to another location, e.g. mapping their route from their home to their work location (according to their memory). I am wondering if there is such a functionality in Survey123 or any of the ArcGIS products that can allow participants to do so. Many thanks!
Hey WengAo,
You may find Field Maps to be useful in this situation, could create a publicly published field map that allows users to draw lines. Could always make it so users can add but not delete.
Thank you for your suggestion. I am new to Field Maps. Would it be possible to embed this field map into online survey software, like Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey? Also, I am asking each survey participant from different cities to create their own maps, do I have to create different maps for different cities and the participant select the one that fits them or will it work like google map so participant can just type in the location they want to map?
I just saw that Explorer’s markup tools is how I want to collect data from survey participants since I don’t need (and don’t want due to privacy issue) precise info from them and I think it is easy to use as they can simply draw lines as they are on paper maps(?) However are any ways to embed this into online survey software? And after they create the maps, will the maps be auto saved without explicitly shared the maps with me? I want to make the process as easy as possible.
Hi!
1. Enable location sharing via Organization>setting>Organization extensions>
click enable location sharing. This option require ArcGIS Location Sharing Licenses.
2. If you just want to see the route map from the office to the working area, just advise the surveyors to create a route map on the google map and add the URL in your Survey 123. They even can add the route map as an image. Please see the below images.
Best
