Can an azimuth (compass) be used within a repeat?

I tried using the compass method to collect the azimuth within a repeat section.  However, it seems to keep the same azimuth for all the data collected within the repeat.   Does the bearing appearance not work on repeats or am I missing something?  Thank you.

I'm thinking about using the compass within a repeat as well, did it work for you in the end?
