UPDATED 1/28/26:
Being the more robust survey designer, Connect is primarily what my organization uses to create Survey123 forms. These forms are accessed under a variety of conditions: Sometimes via the Web App, sometimes in mode='edit', etc. Within Connect, you can only preview survey behavior as though it is a new form in the Field App. This makes creating and troubleshooting forms that are used differently a time-consuming, more frustrating process. Given how frequently we create forms that rely on an existing record and are filled out in a browser, having to publish the survey in order to confirm behavior is clunky. The preview shown in Connect can be explicitly misleading, at times.
Please consider elevating Connect so it offers better preview abilities of survey behavior.
Original post is below:
When designing surveys to behave differently if users open them in mode='new' vs in mode='edit', the process of testing/reviewing your work is clunky. It would be very helpful if Connect could simulate both circumstances, so you can preview both sets of form behavior within Connect without having to publish to examine form behavior.
This would be a great addition, I manage a ton of two-stage forms and getting quick access to either mode would be great. Bonus points if we can edit all the other implicit variables (device type, hidden type fields etc.) to quickly see how the form will behave under other circumstances.
@Neal_t_k I was just returning to my post here to update it requesting exactly what you mention. Being able to view survey behavior within Connect based on a range of survey scenarios would save so much time, especially given critical differences between how the Web App and Field App operate. It can be challenging to keep track of the small differences that have large import on a final product.
