Does anyone else use the VGI tool to 're-package' shapefles for Versacad?

I've been running it on a windows 7 machine Arc GIS 9.3.1 (was 9.3 24 hours ago) and now 9.3.1 has service pack 2 installed.

The tool seems to have a mind of it's own; when I perform a partial run on just some of the roads and cities in the county, it runs fine, and completes.  However, when I run it against the entire county road system and all the cities, it bails out.  The latest error says it can not get a lock on the File geodatabase it creates, saying it's read only.  Huh?

I've run this software on the same data on a similar machine but running XP, and it seems to run okay.

Any other Versaterm users out there in ArcGIS land?
That should just about do it....

Hi Joe

I came across your post when looking for info on the VGI interface.  It's been a year since you posted, and I was wondering if you could provide any update.  Did you resolve these issues?  We are migrating to a Versaterm environment in the next year, so I would like to obtain any info I can on possible issues.

I guess I have a little too much time on my hands today as I'm looking over past posts of mine.

The VGI tool I've been using seems to have settled down on it's own.  One thing you need to be aware of is to turn off your virus ware before you make the run.  Since my intitial post I've run VGI no less that 1,000 times or so it seems.

If you have any specific questions about it, I'll do my best to answer them.  Sorry I haven't been more active with this thread.

You can email me if you like; jborgione at alpine geographic dot com  (all one word....)
