Back story; A Word document - 145 pages with text and tables, presented as a Story Map, highlighting main sections of document, add images, add interactivity with tables and the document and an interactive map.
Story Map Functionality Process
We have two types of Microsoft program files; Word and Excel.
We want to share this information - digitally - with stakeholders within our Enterprise Portal (in-house).
We want some interactivity.
Sharing One | Word document:
- Store in your OneDrive, the Word document and excel workbook(s) that you are using for the Story Map.
- Open the Word doc from here
- Share to provide access to the MS Word document.
In MS Word/top right - Share button drop-down menu/Manage Access/Add the people's names - the people you want to be able to open this document file/close dialog box/Share button drop-down menu/Share/check settings in copy link/click Copy link/click send/close dialog box. - Open your Story Map. Because you have stored the Word doc in your OneDrive, you can right click file in File Explorer and copy link and paste it into the URL for the button. Amend settings such as open in new tab, etc.
Sharing Two | Excel workbook:
- Store in your OneDrive, the excel workbook(s) that you are using for the Story Map.
- Open the excel workbook(s) from here
- Share to provide access to the excel workbook(s)
In Excel/top right - Share button drop-down menu/Manage Access/Add the people's names - the people you want to be able to open this workbook file/close dialog box/Share button drop-down menu/Share/check settings in copy link/click Copy link/click send/close dialog box. - Now, your bottom task bar over to the right, click on the OneDrive icon. Choose your excel file. If you are not sure which is which, back out of here, open File Explorer, open your workbook, do a quick edit/undo/save/close. Now go back to the OneDrive icon on the bottom right in taskbar, and your excel workbook that you just opened and edited and saved - is at the top of the OneDrive list. 🙂
- To the right of the filename, click on the three dots (more options) and choose View online.
Sharing Three | Embed code:
- Still in the Excel workbook online, File/Share/Embed this workbook. Fill out necessary parameters in the dialog box that opens and copy the embed code.
- Open your Story Map add Embed/paste the embed code you copied/Add. Then go into the settings (wheel) for this entity and fill out necessary parameters.
Sharing Four | Story Map:
- ensure sharing permissions are set for your Story Map
