I know it's early, but I need to prepare for the future since we use several classic Story Maps within my agency. Also are there plans to bring in templates similar to what's in the Classic Story Maps?
Thanks,
Michael
p.s. I just built my first story using the new builder and will be presenting it at a conference next week. It was very easy to use. Thanks!

Hi Michael!
This question is mentioned in the FAQs for the new StoryMaps:
https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-storymaps/get-started/faq.htm#anchor2
"As Esri moves forward with the new ArcGIS StoryMaps, story authors will be able to continue using the classic Story Maps templates to create new stories until mid-2020, and Esri will host and support stories created with these templates until 2024. ArcGIS StoryMaps is the next-generation storytelling tool for the ArcGIS platform, and story authors are encouraged to use this new tool to create stories."
It also links to the product road map for StoryMaps which can be found here:

Hope this helps!
