Is there a way to hide the header and footer in the new ArcGIS StoryMaps? We are embedding the StoryMap within a site, so we'd like to omit the header and footer, since these UI elements are handled within the hosting website.

Hi Christina -- The header hides automatically when a story detects it's embed in another web page, but there's currently no way to hide the footer. We're working on making the footer smaller in a future update, so that may help in your situation.

Is it possible to remove the white space between the last block and the footer? It makes it look like something hasn't loaded fully and can be a bit confusing. It would also be great if we could customise the footer and perhaps add credits (like the classic cascade template).
Hi Anneka -- The ability to add credits is coming (we're working on it now), and we're also looking at cleaning up that extra white space at the end of stories.
Thanks, Owen! This was helpful! Looking forward to the footer update in the future.
Hi Christina Nordling, in case you haven't found a solution yet, you may try adding the URL parameter &classicembedmode to the end of the URL as suggested in these posts:
