I'm trying to run a viewshed analysis and I can't figure out how to access the custom variables (i.e. OFFSETA, OFFSETB, etc) that are referenced in the desktop help article (http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#/Performing_visibility_analysis_with_Vi...).  This used to be so easy in 9.3, I am assuming I'm just missing something since I can't find these options in the basic Viewshed tool or in the python syntax and the dropdown menu has been removed from the Spatial Analyst toolbar in ArcGIS 10.

Thanks for your help,

You can use these custom variables (OFFSETA, OFFSETB etc) by adding them into the feature attribute table. Please see the KB article below:

Hi,

I have a similar problem that never happened using ArcGIS 9.3.

I have set up the Customer variables OFFSETA, OFFSETB, RADIUS1 and RADIUS2. However, it doesn't seem to use those variables. The results are as if just the default parameters have been used and not the ones I have entered in the attribute file of the point feature.

The field types are fine and there are no spelling errors either..

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The variables are fields in the point file.  You have to add those fields to the point file.  Variables in a tool will not use them.  What type of field did you make them?  If you are still having issues with the point file if the variables are there, then please log a Support call and have someone take a look at your data with you.
