Hello:

I'm using Spatial Analyst to generate a grid using the Natural Neighbor method. I keep getting the error:

10098: insufficient number of points

I have 8 valid data points distributed in a small area, approx. under 10 acres. I've used Natural Neighbor with as few as 3 or 4 points before. any idea why this is happening?

Exporting the selected features to a feature class worked.

I was using a FC using a definition query to isolate only the point on one side of a river.

Well, that's ESRI. You spend 10% of your time getting work done, 90% trying to work around all the bugs & gestapo level permissions & incompatability etc.

I don't understand....the ability of working with selections is a major advantage to any GIS system...if not, you would be creating numerous unnecessary files.

I totally agree with Dan, this is not a bug, but a feature.

It allows you to create models or through code to make selections and apply geoprocessing on that selection only. It's a very powerful feature, but as with all thing you have to be aware of what you are doing. As many, I have made that error too. Learn from it and benefit from it in the future.
