What are the things to consider when processing Aerial Images to ensure that the result are correct? I need to combine thousands of Aerial Images into one. I have ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 to do this. Any tips and suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
If you are creating a mosaic dataset or raster catalog from tiled raster data, such as orthophotos or the USGS topographic maps, it is recommended that you use the same projection for the mosaic dataset or raster catalog as the stored data is using. If that's not possible because of a mix of projections, try to use a projection based on the same datum. For example, the USGS topographic maps were originally created using NAD27. For more information please follow the link below:
Once you create a mosaic, you can add it on top of ESRI Basemap or Bing Map in ArcMap and have random checks. You can use Swipe tool on Effect toolbar bar.
Hope this is helpful

Thank you for the information Kishor.
I am currently looking and reviewing on a topographic maps for HI and creating mosaic dataset or a raster catalog, the images is still misaligned. The mosaic dataset and/or raster catalog that I am recreating should be using "WGS 1984 Web Mercator (auxilliary sphere)" and the maps that I have are mostly in "Old Hawaiian". I'm seeing some issues about this projection in forums but I can't figure out how can I correct this or what should I do to correct this to fit in accordingly in the basemap. The Spatial Reference as I've checked on the properties are "Polyconic" and/or "Transverse Mercator".
I am not sure if you are aware that there is another good site for you to read...
it is called GIS Stackexchange where everyone share their GIS problems.
I looked it up for your similiar situation and found a lot of good information...
The website is Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange
Type Mosaic Dataset
Good luck.
Thank you so much Robert.
I'll try that website and look for possible solution on my problem.
