Another question about creating a custom report in the fusion editor - I'm trying to drag & drop a section of detailed ethnicity data from the summary reports into my custom report and am getting the following error:

The section(s) you are adding contain objects referencing missing fields. In Edit mode these fields will be attributed with red exclamation marks and objects will be highlighted in red.

And sure enough, in Edit mode the whole section is highlighted in red. It's as if the data doesn't actually exist in the summary reports. So why is it shown as data that you can drag & drop if you really can't?

Thanks, Jason. The summary report is called "Detailed Ethnicity Profile". I also get the same error with the summary report titled "Labor Force by Industry and Occupation Profile". They are both summary reports in the Fusion Report Designer.

Paul,

Ok I can explain what is going on.  Both the detailed ethnicity profile and the labor force profile have a different BDS layer than the standard Business Analyst BDS layer.  That is why when one is running reports one has to switch to a different dataset to the ESRI 2012 Labor Force and Detailed Ethnicity dataset to actually run them.

Another place that illustrates this is going to Business Analyst Preferences then the Data tab and making sure you have Hybrid selected and the going to Advanced Tolerance Settings.  If you toggle the hierarchy drop down you will see BA_LBR_2012.  Also it is important to know that the BA_LBR_2012 only goes down to the census tract level.  The Esri 2012/2017 data update was released in November 2012 and ACS had only released data down to the census tract level at that point in time.  Since then ACS has released data to the block group level so when the Esri 2013/2018 data update is released late in 2013 the data will be down to the block group.

All that information above aside it is possible to create a fusion report that can pull data items from the standard BDS layer as well as the Labor Force/Ethnicity BDS layer.  First once you are in Edit mode add Standard BDS then click to Add Custom BDS layer and navigate to the Labor Force BDS (esri_tr_LBF.bds) layer located at C:\ArcGIS\Business Analyst\US_2012\Data\Demographic Data.

Paul,

The detailed ethnicity section you are trying to drop into your custom report from which summary report is that from?  I would like to see if a I can reproduce.

Where is the ACS BDS layer located?  We found the Labor force layer but cannot find the ACS layer.

Richard,

As I touched upon in the below thread there is currently no ACS BDS layer for the Business Analyst 10.1 2012/2017 data update release.  This can naturally change in the future but I have not heard anything concrete on ACS being included yet.
