Imported feature classes not available in WFS service

I have a set of feature classes that I've imported from a shapefile.  I've registered them as versioned and shared them via WFS, however when I do the DescribeFeatureType call, I see none of them listed.  If I just right click in ArcCatalog and create a new feature class, that will be visible in WFS, but never the classes I've imported.  What can be done to make these classes available through WFS?

You may consider then - Creating a new feature class and data loading in this feature class from shapefiles and see if it helps.
