Civil3D\AutoCAD Map3D applications have their own Coordinate System setup under Drawing Settings. Why does that information not get read by ArcGIS Pro automatically? Or at least with ArcGIS for AutoCAD read and populate that information automatically when assigning the coordinate system.

Hi @bcowper,

To now, different projection engines are used between products such as ArcGIS Pro and Civil 3D/Map 3D. However, ArcGIS for AutoCAD is of benefit when an EPSG code has been used to assign a coordinate system from within Civil 3D/Map 3D. As shown in the video (0:10 to 0:20), when an EPSG code has already been assigned as the coordinate system using built-in Civil 3D/Map 3D capabilities, with just a few clicks, you can incorporate that coordinate system into the drawing in a way that is recognized by ArcGIS for AutoCAD. If you later load the drawing in ArcGIS Pro (0:27 and beyond in the video), then the coordinate system will be recognized without having to take any additional steps.

Thanks, understood. My point was to take out the human factor and have AutoCAD for ArcGIS read directly from the AutoCAD drawing's coordinate system. Regardless not too many steps to do it ourselves with the EPSG code.
