Looking for suggestions on tools or workflows for a connectivity analysis I am working on. I have two habitat polygon feature classes and I want to identify where one habitat type connects multiple patches of the other habitat that would otherwise be unconnected, ie. where one feature in Feature Class 1 (yellow) intersects with two or more features of Feature Class 2 (pink), but the polygons of Feature Class 2 do not intersect with each other.
It is a global dataset so the distance between polygons may be a few hundred meters or hundreds of km, so I’ve found that using Generate Near Table to filter to polygons that are close to each other is not suitable. I’ve also tried Select by Location using various combinations/relationships with no luck. I have a feeling the answer has something to do with Topology but I’m new to the concept.
