When I use Spatial Join Tool, the progress has been stuck at 4%

Hello, when I use the Spatial Join Tool for analysis, the progress can't move forward from 4%. My data volume may be a little large (connecting individual buildings' information in 20 cities to each city shape), but when I waited for a whole day, the progress did not increase at all. How should I solve this problem?

Hey @LianghaoHuang

This post here has a suggestion that may help:

Would it be possible to split the dataset up into smaller chunks? It may just be that the amount of calculations and weight of the process may be too much for the tool to actually complete unfortunately, from what you've mentioned it definitely seems pretty large.

Thank you for your reply! I have attempted to follow the suggestions provided in this post, but the result remains unsuccessful. I shall try splitting the dataset for processing.

Hi @LianghaoHuang@CodyPatterson

It looks like your Spatial Join is stuck because of the large data volume. Instead of the regular Spatial Join, I highly recommend using the “Generate Spatial Join” tool from the Attribute Rules Ready-to-Use tools.

I’ve used it multiple times on similar datasets, and it’s much faster — it usually finishes within a minute, even with large city/building datasets.

Give it a try, it should save you a lot of waiting time.
