What does this icon on my layout tab mean?

Pro 2.8.3 - I have a layout that is refusing to show anything in its data frame.  Sometimes it crashes the program.  A rather sinister looking icon has appeared over the layout tab.  I can't get any information by hovering over it.  Anyone know what exactly it means? (other than my general conclusion that this layout is fubar)

It means that the rendering on that particular tab has been paused. Check in the lower-right to pause/unpause rendering.

Dang how did I accidently pause it...oh well, here's one for the stupid question HOF.
