Trouble with legends in ARCGIS pro

I'm having trouble within ARCGIS pro with legends. When I link a legend with a map frame, the legend contents show all the map layers (even when I sync with map items only).Unchecking most is doable but I don't know why a lot of the items appear twice in the legend. The boxes of the doubled half can't be unchecked nor can I rearrange them because when I try to do so, it creates a third line for the same entity. I also cannot remove the doubles because doing so, it removes both of the items whereas I want to keep one of the two.

Any ideas...?

Ok well I can't explain the weirdness of it all but I solved it if anyone should encounter the same trouble: I deleted the entry from the legend, both disappeared (original and double). I then dragged the item back from the map frame and it only appeared once as it should have.
