Switch default to geodesic in measure tool?

Hi! I had a question from one of our staff today if there was a way to switch the default in the Measure tool to geodesic so they don't have to switch it over every time they open the tool.

Any thoughts on how to make that happen?

I looked in Options > Units and can't see anything there.

As you stated it doesn't appear as though there is a way to  save geodesic as a setting for the measure tool.  However, once you set the geodesic method and then close the tool, when you open it again it should still be set to geodesic.  Once you close the project  upon reopening  the tool will be reset to planar.  I even tried to customize the ribbon by creating an instance of the measure tool in the geodesic state, but once you change setting of the original measure tool the "custom measure tool instance" also changes.  So this is not an answer but a validation of the struggle.

I'm using Pro v3.3 and the Measure tool doesn't 'hold' onto the Geodesic setting during an active project session for me like you described. If I close the tool and reopen it while working in a project, it flips the Measure tool to planar distances. I am not closing out of the project and reopening it. Did you do something to get it working the way you described where it holds onto the geodesic setting in an open project? Even that would be helpful. I use this so much for 3D work.

You might be able to set the default to geodesic by adjusting the tool's settings or preferences. Check if there's an option to save the default poodle terrier mix measurement type within the tool's settings.

Curious if you figured out a way to make this work? I'm currently using Pro v3.3 and have the same question.

I don't have any solutions. 😞
who from ESRI can we @ in order to get them to look at a solution?
