In Desktop, I used to be able to sort my attribute table by 1 field (currently, plant species), select a bunch of records, switch to Selected view, & sort & highlight those a bunch of different ways to calculate some statistics, unselect certain records & recalculate, etc. Then I would go back to Show All Records & the table would still be right as I left it, sorted by species - I could just keep scrolling, grab the next set of records & repeat the same calculations.
In Pro (3.5.3), any sorting I do in the Show Selected Features view gets applied to the Show All Features view, so when I switch back I have to sort again (often losing my place if I've already cleared my selection)!
Also re: losing my place, in Desktop whether I sorted the Selected Features or not, the All features table would stay where I was, if that makes sense. I do a lot of scrolling through and double-checking attributes (yes, many are from domains, but a few are text and need to be checked for spelling, grammar, etc.) and now every time I switch to Selected for a minute and switch back, the table is all the way up at the 1st record again.
Is this worth submitting an "idea," or am I the only one annoyed by it?
Note: I'm talking about 400-500 polygon records & 20-30 species - it doesn't seem efficient to spend time building a bunch of queries, models, etc. for every single species & possible scenario just to determine that "we found X species at 3 of the 5 sites that we previously knew about, + found 2 new sites."
Thanks!
Hi @agjackson1,
In ArcGIS Pro, the table is multithreaded, so it refreshes more frequently than in ArcGIS Desktop.
I suggest submitting an idea so others can provide input as well.
Hi,
I agree with submitting as an idea. I will be doing a lot of attribute work in the future in Pro and would like as much of the function I get in ArcMap there when I do.
So great suggestion.
