Using ArcGIS Pro 3.5.0. I have a map that has been linked to arcgis online as a web map. When trying to update the online map in pro, the 'save web map' button is grayed out and when hovered over states that 'this command is currently unavailable.' Any advice on how to fix this?

How was it added to Pro? You went into the catalog pane and added it from your Portal right? You're not working from the one you originally published from.

There are a couple reasons you may see the grayed out button:

  • You aren’t signed in to the active ArcGIS Online/Portal connection in Pro (or you’re signed into a portal that doesn’t allow saving).
  • Your account lacks privileges (most commonly you don’t have permission to create content), so Pro won’t allow saving a web map. See: Problem: Unable to save a web map in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS
  • Your map includes content/settings that can’t be saved as a web map (unsupported layers or properties), which disables the command. Review limitations here: Save a web map—ArcGIS Pro 3.6

Hey, that usually happens when the map isn’t properly linked to the original web map or you don’t have edit permissions on it. Try opening the web map directly from your ArcGIS Online portal inside Pro instead of a local copy. Also make sure you’re signed in with the same account that owns or can edit the map. If it still stays greyed out, re-share or overwrite the web map as a workaround
