Restore previous windows and layers? HELP!

Is there a way to restore my views as they were prior to closing ArcGIS pro?
I was having trouble with the slow response of my pc and wanted to reboot the system.
When I reopened it, I found that everything is gone!
the ARPX file is a nice 5.6Mb and corresponding Geeodatabase 2.25Gb, which shows my info is still there but not being displayed...
Any ideas on how to bring back to life my map and layouts? Is there a way to recover a past version?

well, I found the magic PROJECT pane and there it was...
I now can breathe easily...
