Hello,
I have a large layer with land polygons, there are some that are overlapping others, essentially what I would like is to remove all the overlapping ones so I have a flat layer that only shows 1 polygon per parcel, not multiple. You can see below, there are certain polygons that are only half the size of the ones below as well. Some touch others so I can't use the merge tool because it will create one large polygon. I just need to remove all the overlap, but that tool doesn't work as it removes the overlapping area, not the overlapping feature itself.
May be try the "Erase" tool?
May be try select by location "Intersection" and then delete that selection of polys?
Tricky, but

will get your close, look at the following to interpret the results to decide which polygons need to be removed, for the overlap case
