I've had this issue with a couple of datasets now, and can't figure out why. Can anyone offer any insight or should I log it with Esri support?

Example:

1) In ArcGIS Pro, created a polygon layer and a point layer.

2) Used the instructions here to relate the tables (as aim is to use in Field Maps): https://support.esri.com/en-us/knowledge-base/how-to-set-up-related-tables-in-arcgis-pro-for-use-in-...

3) Tested the relate by selecting a record in the polygon table>ribbon>Table>Related Data>Click on the Points table that shows in the dropdown>opens the related table (even if there aren't any actual records in the related table). All good.

4) Shared into AGOL.

5) The relate works fine in AGOL, can see it in the AGOL tables, pop-ups etc, works in Field Maps.

6) Add the new AGOL hosted feature layer version into ArcGIS Pro. The relate works fine in the ArcGIS pop-up pane, i.e. the polygon layer can be expanded to show the related points.

7) But the method from step 3 doesn't work - if I got to Table>Related Data>Click on the Points table - the table does show in the dropdown but when you click on it nothing happens. In the GDB version (i.e. in step 3), the points table opens and has the related records selected. In the Feature Layer version the table just doesn't open and the related points do not get selected.

I've tried it by using different fields for the relationship, i.e. not the GUID/Global ID. I've tried sharing to AGOL from right click>Share as well as the Share>Web layer on the ribbon, with the same results. Ideally staff would be able to view/manipulate the data fully in Pro as well as AGOL, so I really want to know what's happening.

Hi @DebSF

I'll give this a test to see if I get the same behaviour - can I ask what version of ArcGIS Pro you are using?

We do have a bug that sounds similar which I'll post the workflow for below if you could let me know if 1 - this is the same workflow as yours and 2 - if not, could you try this workflow and see the experience you get?

  1. Open ArcGIS Pro and add your related layers from ArcGIS Online
  2. Select a feature from the feature layer in the map view.
  3. Open the attribute table for the feature layer.
  4. Click the three-line (hamburger) menu in the attribute table and choose "Show Related Data."
  5. Click on the listed related table to view related records.
  6. Nothing will happen

Thank you!

Issy

Hi @IssyAmis , thanks for the quick reply. It's version 3.5.0.

If I follow your workflow I don't see a "Show Related Data" option when I click on the hamburger, I can hover  over "Related data" to expand and then click on the related table there - at which point nothing happens.

Hi @DebSF Thanks for confirming that - I've also run through your workflow and looks like the workflows are basically the same, it's just two different ways of getting to the same table.

The bug I believe you are running into is the following bug: BUG-000176615 for ArcGIS Pro

This is listed as resolved in version 3.5.2, or should work if you roll back to 3.4.

I'm upgrading my Pro to 3.5.2 to confirm this is fixed and I will report back but hopefully moving to either of these versions should resolve the issue 🙂

Thanks!

Issy

@IssyAmis Thanks for pointing me in the right direction from this, I've just been able to test on Pro v3.5.3 and can confirm it's working as expected there as well 🙂
