Hi ,
I am planning to run flood simulation models in ArcGIS Pro and would like advice on the ideal PC specifications to ensure smooth performance.

If anyone has experience running flood simulations in ArcGIS Pro, could you share your insights on the optimal setup?

Thank you in advance for your recommendations!

Hi Rahul,

Flood Simulation is similar to the rest of ArcGIS Pro in that it can run on minimum specs, works better on recommended specs, and best when on optimal specs (or higher). It is a little unique in that the flood simulation is invoked from within a displayed 3D view, and the calculations are designed to run on a graphics card GPU, so performance differences will be more noticeable as (for example) you increase RAM and have access to a higher quality graphics card. Your choice of setup (aka "cost") will need to factor in questions like "how much simulation will you do, and how many people are doing it?"

You can read more about the specifications and levels here (especially look at the sections for "CPU", "RAM", "GPU", and "General-purpose computing on a GPU").

Hope this helps, and thanks for your interest in flood simulation!

-Nathan.
