Hello,

I have a shapefile that my organization created before I started here. It is a point layer, but for some reason the default symbology has been set to unique values with polygon symbols. When I change the symbology method, the symbols go back to points, but when I switch fields in the unique values symbology the regenerated symbols still show up as polygons. Is there a way to remove this default symbology? Pictures below:

Interesting.  So what I'm wondering if you have 2 layers in your map.  One for polygon geometry and one for point geometry.  Each layer has a scale dependency when it reaches a certain threshold it turns off the polygon layer and turns on the point layer.  It's not possible to have polgyon symbologies for a point and visa versa.
