Only append/copy image attachments from one feature class to another without overwriting metadata fields?

Hello,

I have old versions of SQL database layers that were copied to hosted feature layers on AGOL. The copied versions of the feature layers were used in Field Maps where images were taken for most of the features. The SQL database has since been worked on simultaneously with much of the attribute fields being updated.  The AGOL copy still shares all of the same fields along with relatable object IDs and Global IDs.

How do I append only the images from the copied versions on AGOL to our SQL database without overwriting the rest of the metadata?

Someone else may chime in but this community thread should provide the answer. It involves Survey123 but it also discusses hosted layers.

Hello Eugene,

Maybe I am missing something from that post, but I am not comprehending where you can run the append tool without overwriting the rest of the metadata.

My issue isn't that the images don't copy over from one feature layer to another.  The append tool works as it is intended for me and if I were to run it, I wouldn't have any errors as both feature layers have attachments enabled in their environments. But running the append tool would cause a problem for me as it would overwrite my metadata. I am attempting to copy over only the attachments. Ultimately, I do not believe the append tool is what I am looking at utilizing unless I can change these parameters in a way that I am unfamiliar with. Thanks for the reply!

For clarification, when you say overwrite the metadata, what fields are you trying to avoid being updated by running the append tool?

I found your post from a few days ago that was lengthier in description of your situation. I'm sorry I can't help too much with this. Not my area of experience. I did find a post on ERSI's developer site about REST API's that may be of some help? It discusses the ability to append a file geodatabase to a layer which sounds similar to question 2 that you asked in your previous post.
