Aloha kakou,
I’m just getting started in ArcGIS Pro by following along a Udemy course. When I click Catalog in ArcGis Pro’s start page, it sort of freezes. When I hover over the program icon in the task bar (encircled in red in screenshot below),
I see it has “tried” to open a new project, however, it does not appear:
I’m sure it’s some simple remedy but restarting my computer didn’t fix it.

You can try to run the application as an administrator. Also check the System requirements.
You can start without a template too. Once it creates a new Project, add the catalog pane accordingly.
If this does not work, check if you can repair ArcGIS Pro.
