Layouts not exporting with correct colours

Today I am no longer able to export my layouts with the colours that I have set up in the maps. At this point, I have exported over 100 layouts from this project (or some version of it as I save a new one every week) and this problem creeped up without me having changed anything to my knowledge. 

This is what the layout looks like in layout view:

And this is what it looks like exported to pdf:

My export to pdf settings are always the same:

Any idea why this is happening?

Is there a problem when using other forms of export? PNG?

no, i just tested .tif and .jpeg and both export correctly without issue.

That’s what I assumed would happen. Sometimes my annotations don’t display properly when exporting directly to PDF, so I export as a PNG instead. If I need a PDF, I convert the PNG to a PDF afterward. I can’t say exactly why things don’t always work correctly in PDF, but I do know that changing the format usually fixes the issue.
