“Label feature in this layer” option in ArcGIS Pro,

I couldn’t figure out if there is a “Label feature in this layer” option in ArcGIS Pro in the “label class” pane.

But the “label class” pane appears not to have this option (as it is used to be in ArcMap). Does this mean that turning labels on\off is controlled from the ribbon?

Yes, it is, you need the ribbon as you already discovered. One of those small implementation details you just have to get used to but no big deal.
