I am receiving KMZ/KML data from a client. I am then asked to do some geoprocessing tasks inside ArcPro to create some needed fields. I am then asked to provide a deliverable of a KML/KMZ but when I run Layer to KML the output KML file does not retain the original popup info. The html line in the popup info field is the same as the original KML/KMZ but only displays as such. I can go into the properties of the new KML and copy and paste this html but then it gets rid of my new fields.

I have a lot of data so manually editing each description is not really plausible. The client understands and has been working for sometime to switch from KML/KMZ (google earth) to shapefiles (ESRI or QGIS they are still in talks) for their data, but until then asked if I could workshop solutions.

Can anyone help me out?

Thank you!

Nicholas,

I've had similar issues with a client.  Here is a link to check out https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/conversion/layer-to-kml.htm which should help, also if you label the feature in ArcGIS Pro, the kml will carry that label as the name for the feature.

However, one thing to note is if using the kml in GE, only point features will show a "Placemark" label.

Another trick is to add a field titled FolderPath to your feature class and populate it with the folder structure you would like to see in the kml, check this link https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/conversion/kml-conversion.htm for help with this and other tips.

Thank you but this does not address the issue I am having.

I need the original KML popup info to continue to show as normal, while also showing my created fields.
