I am trying to develop a cost model for elephant use of slopes. I am stuck, have a dem also have data on energy required by elephants to climb 100 m.

Thanks for providing some good starting points for Iamos. It looks like we haven't updated those links to refer to our modern distance toolset. I'll look into that.

Here are some links which introduce the use of newer tools esri recommends for weighted distance analysis in recent versions of arcgis pro.
