Hi Guys,
I'm drawn a buffer of 30m around pipework. I have also drawn a 100m grid. Now what I want to do is find out which pipes buffer sits in each grid square, and how much area within the grid it covers.
Any ideas how to do this?
Thanks

If you have useful projected data, or can calculate area in each layer in projected coordinates,
then the information should be in the table.
There are a couple of options that you can look at
Intersect—Help | ArcGIS Desktop (use ratio policy)
How Pairwise Intersect works—Help | ArcGIS Desktop
but I like
Union—Help | ArcGIS Desktop (use ratio policy)
since I like to track what didn't intersect

Another option:
Identity—Help | ArcGIS Desktop
Though Union and Intersect are probably easier to get started with.

Thanks guys. Just to point out the tools were working, but the reason I kept getting failures was because I was exporting to a shape file, and it had more lines than excel could handle, so the data was getting lost. Exported to a GeoDatabase, and it all worked fine.
