I created a map and a layout of the map, and when closing I exited out of the map tab (next to the layout tab). Did I accidentally delete my map? I can only see the layout of my map (which I can zoom in and out of). How do I get the map tab back??

Hi, the map should still be in your project. In the Project pane, expand Maps. You should see it listed there. Right-click it and click Open.

TimOrmsy's answer is very helpful. But I want to point out that the Project panel is within the Catalog Panel.

This worked for me in ArcGIS Pro. Thank you!

Thank you! Textbooks and eris help never can explain very well.

I'm afraid I'm still trying to figure out the difference between a 'pane', and a 'panel'. Where do I find something called a 'Project Pane'? (I did the exact same thing as Christine and am having a hard time finding my Map - I KNOW it's in there...somewhere, but I don't know where to look since I can't find something called a 'Project Pane'?)

So - I figured out what/where the Project Pain is, and clicked on Catalogue, but my map isn't there. I have three tabs I'm working with. Two are Layouts, and one is a 'Layers' tab. How can I transfer everything in my 'Layers' tab to a new map?
