I have a polygon feature class which is a 5 minute graticule and I need to cut the portions of that graticule out in areas that overlap another feature class. When I run the Split tool, it changes the geometry of the graticule sections by 10's to 20's of centimeters in unintended areas. I need the original geometry to remain the same, except of course, for the intended splits. I'm not sure why it is altering the geometry in the first place, but is there a way to maintain the original geometry without getting these shifts? In the attached image, all of those corners should be in the exact same place, but you can see they are 22cm out. It should look like one crossing point.
Is the map and the featureclass you are splitting in the same coordinate system?
