'Failed to save project' on local drive

Hi all, 

whenever I'm trying to save some processes in my .arpx, ArcGIS notifies that it 'Failed to save project'. 

No matter what I'm trying (closing & reopening ArcGIS, system restart, etc.), it does not fix the issue. 

As soon as I'm trying to import some data or deactivate / active a layer, the error occurs. 

Can someone please help? The project is already at an advanced stage and it would mean much work, to say the least, to start all over again with a new file. 

The project is saved in a local drive - therefore, there should not be any access issues with network drives, etc. I am using the latest version of ArcGIS Pro.

So, as I'm also using ArcGIS Pro on Mac via Parallels, it seems the problem is closely related to this one:

Hi,

The vast majority of cases that we've seen are related to excel drivers not being installed or the wrong ones being installed.

If that still does not resolve that then the quickest way to resolve this is to reach out to technical support and they can screenshare with you and take a look at your environment etc to resolve the issue.

Have you tried Save As to a new filename?

Pro 3 would not allow me to save several of my projects for some reason, but it wouldn't allow me to save them as a new file.
