As simple as the title, I save export out/ print to pdf maps that are later used online for viewing. The map should normally pop up after clicking from our website, but it asks for which program I would like to open. I want to print layout/ export to pdf in ARC Pro and or Arc Map and have my maps open on my website without asking which program needs to be selected for it to open.

EDIT: Clarification, this only happens for some files the majority of pdf's simply open, this appears to not be a local system or browser problem.

All the files ending in "_1" omit the "." before "pdf". How are these being generated? It looks like some issue with auto-renaming duplicates or something.

That sounds like an issue with your browser or your particular machine. Do you have a sample link for others to test?

Thank you very much for the response Josh. Here is a link, try the top right section labeled community services districts.

The example in this section that does not automatically open is the "Point Dume Community Services District" pdf map.

All other maps in this section open and operate normally.

I edited my post to state that this is what appears to be a file saving issue as other people have this issue like myself, and it doesn't appear to be a browser or local system preferences issue.

There's no "." in the filename, so it's seeing it as an extension-less file object, not a PDF.

Again, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond, I believe this may very well be the solution.

Once I confirm with my person who handles the web I will accept your answer as a solution.

Cheers!

An update- the extension is the issue but it seems to be autogenerated through our website's upload interface, possibly due to an older pdf map not being overwritten/deleted which then assigns the "_1". But we didn't have to delete old files before, so the reason they have the _1 is because they is an existing file where our website interface houses all the documents.

I did play with the file and noticed when I would add ".pdf" it would have it as "Name.pdf.pdf". Removing spaces in the file also assigned the ".pdf" but this shouldn't have to be the solution as to the source of the issue.

This hadn't been a thing before, not sure what to do from here and will post on adobe.
