Elevation profile: odd behavior, thick profile line

Hi all,

I'm experiencing an odd issue when using the "elevation profile" tool within the "Exploratory 3D analysis" feature. I need the line to be...well, a line, not a very thick one (see enclosed image). This is strange because in other projects, this problem doesn't occur, and the line appears as a regular, thin line. I assume this should be related to the DTM I am using, which is wired. It's frustrating because I need to see the terrain beneath the line...any help would be greatly appreciated.
